The motherboard in your computer is like the heart of your system. Every component that is installed in your computer is powered by the motherboard so if you notice any malfunctioning with the internal hardware it could be due to a faulty motherboard. Another issue with a faulty motherboard is not booting up or getting no power. If you notice either of these issues or any erratic behavior within your system’s environment, you might want to check the motherboard before moving on to other components.
Check Power
If your system will not boot up, you may have a dead motherboard or it could be the power supply has stopped working. Check the power supply before moving on to the motherboard for answers.
Visually Inspect
Look at the motherboard for loose or unplugged cables, jumper settings incorrectly installed, broken or leaky capacitors and check for the CMOS battery to be seated correctly.
Before replacing a suspected bad piece of hardware, test it on another system to ensure it is in fact faulty. Your manufacturer may have special codes or diagnostic tools you can run to help you determine if the motherboard is the real issue or not.

Audio Card
The audio card determines the clarity and the crispness of the sounds you hear on your system. If you are a gamer, just like the graphics card, you might want to get a more advanced card for features like surround sound.

Many people consider used or refurbished laptops instead of new ones. The main reason for the consideration is the savings. You can generally get a better, faster system with more features and bells and whistles for less when buying a refurbished or used system. If you are smart about your purchase, it could well be worth the savings to you to buy a refurbished laptop instead of a new.
Comparing Prices
When you compare a refurbished system to a new one price wise side by side, generally the refurbished will always come out on top. There are times that you will find the refurbished systems are pretty similar in price with their new counterparts and that usually is due to the fact that they are just as new. Sometimes people will return a brand new laptop to the manufacturer and when this happens for whatever the reason it will be given a complete testing and overhaul. These types of refurbished laptops offer the newest hardware configurations and are not outdated in anyway, so their price may be slightly less, but do not expect to save a bundle.
Refurbished laptops that are trade in, company upgrade returns or other systems that have been used for awhile will generally be the lower priced refurnished systems. These may not have the newest components and may offer a lower hardware configuration requirement than you want, but they are tested and put on the market in full working order. You can usually get a limited warranty on these laptops and some companies will even offer a full warranty for an added cost.
